Arrived in Lima

October 31st, 2005 by Mike

ItŽs now almost 2pm and we made it safely to Lima. We were a little concerned at first when our pickup was not present at the airport. We settled into a seat, said Žno, graciasŽ to all the taxi drivers and within 15 minutes we found our driver, Ricardo. We are at a hostel now, ready to head to the center of town to check things out with the owner of the hostel and another volunteer for Mosoq. Tomorrow morning we will head to Huancayo.

    Mike and Alicia,
I am glad to read that you are there safe and sound. I am sorry I missed your call on Saturday, October 29th, we were having Alex’s b-day party! I wanted to wish you both the best of luck with your journey and your travels. You both are very special people and they are lucky to have you both there. I will keep reading your posts of your travels. Be careful and have fun.

  5. Mike Says:

Lima beans? no, sorry. They have had a few days of holiday surrounding our Halloween\All Saints Day but surprisingly we did not see any evidence of it. Huancayo is known for itŽs festivals so I imagine weŽll see more in the future.

    Hi there,
    Can you eat canned vegetables.
Can you buy bikes there, just cheapy used to get around?
    love laura

  7. Mike Says:

We havenŽt seen many canned veggies here. So far, we have been ok eating some of the small salads at the more established restaurants.
Yes, they have cheap bikes. Our family has two bikes but they need some work and they have very few tools. If I can get to the big sunday market again, IŽll look for some of the parts needed to get them running.
