Major Milestones
April 30th, 2007 by MikeThis past week one of the midwives pointed out that we are now in the safe zone with the baby. I’m sure our eyes were bulging out when she said the baby could come “any day now”. Of course what she meant is that the baby is fully developed and could survive, not that it’s really any day now. whew! But seriously, it’s only about 3 weeks until our due date, yikes! Thanks again to everyone who attended the shower and sent gifts. The baby room is ready.
I’m sure everyone is sick of me talking about drywall so I’m happy to announce I’ve finished the drywall installation for the laundry bath project. Check out how many holes I had to cut to fit one sheet! Maybe I should have considered that when deciding to put all the plumbing and electrical on one wall.
But magically, it all fit. It pays to measure many, many times before installing.
Even patched up the old bath door.
Next up is the art of mudd and tape, which everyone has been warning me is a major pain in the rear.
Meanwhile, Alicia has been working on assembing some patio furniture. This time of year is great for sitting out on the porch for dinner and a glass of wine. The cats liked the new ottoman so much they decided to share it!
Oh yeah, since we now have just about all of our furniture, me and my bike got relocated to the basement, in the construction staging area. I set up the TV but I still need to make sure the baby monitor reaches down two floors – this may be my bread and butter for training soon! ![]()

Hi Mike & Alicia, Glad all is going well. Found your website address that I forgot about and decided to see if it was still up. Yep, it is. Good luck with all the renovations. I did my share of drywall here. That was the easy part. The spackel is just a load of fun. Good luck.
On 5/19, Dave & I are headed out to the Southern Ute Indian Reservation in Southern Colorado. Dave will be doing 6mos of internship GPS mapping of fire trails. I’m just riding out with him and I’ll fly back. One concern though. His car is having transmission problems. Too bad Peter is in Renton and not here. Oh Well. Good luck with the baby!! Uncle Joe
