Meet the Family

September 6th, 2007 by Alicia

We’ve had a big week. We went to Seattle over Labor Day weekend. We had a blast! We stayed with Mike’s brother and his family for the first two nights. My sister-in-law Mari took me out for a pedicure first thing Saturday morning. It was perfect! I realized later that I packed two pairs of shoes that I never wore, because I was taking advantage of my nice toes!

We had a family get together Saturday afternoon. Nora got to meet her Grandma, all of her aunts and uncles, and 11 of her 14 cousins! Needless to say, she was held by someone all day long! Here’s a pic of Nora with her Grandma and one with her cousin Annika.

Sunday morning Mike went wakeboarding on Lake Washington with two of his brothers and his sister that was visiting from Santa Cruz. It was a nice treat for him. He recently joined a waterski club that goes on the Schuykill River here in Philadelphia, so he got in some good practice.

We spent the rest of our time with friends. A few of our friends took us out for a really nice dinner to celebrate my birthday. They went all out. Drinks, appetizers, wine… it was great! I had lamb and Mike had salmon. We also got free desserts to make up for a dropped duck. Then we went to a bar, where we ordered a giant beer to pass around the entire bar. We ended the night by losing money at a casino.

We also got to see a bunch of friends on Monday – three of which were pregnant! There are so many kids around! It’s amazing how life is changing. Nights at bars and casinos are definitely not the norm anymore. At times I’m thinking, “okay, there’s only 20 some years left and then I can do what I want again.” Don’t tell Nora that!

We stayed with my friend Carrie and her family. They have a little girl and twin boys. Here’s a pic with Nora’s friend Rylie (Carrie’s daughter).

Our return to PA brings us back to reality. Mike started his new job on Wednesday. I’m already missing him at home. I didn’t realize how much his coffee breaks meant to me!

I love all the pictures! Even though it looks like Carrie has me in a headlock for one. Don’t forget to tell everyone about the cool “wheels” that took us to the casino where we all lost money. I giggle every time I think of it!
Missing you much and counting down the hours tillyour next visit.
Love, Rena Georger ( I only add my lastname to not be confused with your other Rena)
