Getting into a Groove
September 23rd, 2007 by AliciaSort of a groove, sometimes a rut. It’s been an uneventful few weeks. Mike’s been at his new job and Nora and I are home alone. I’m finding the day to day happenings can be boring. People keep telling me that I should enjoy Nora when she’s this small. I do enjoy her when she’s happy and when she’s really tired and snuggling in my arms. I also really enjoy her when she’s sleeping and eating. I don’t enjoy her so much when she’s cranky and hard to please. I can only do the floor mat so many times! I’m looking forward to the day that she can do more activity than swatting her hand at the stuffed bird hanging above her!
Here’s my little sweetheart with a neighbor.
One thing I do really enjoy is going for walks. That’s my break with Nora. She’s content and I can think and regain some energy. I’ve stopped doing large grocery store trips. I’ve been walking to the grocery store a few times a week. It’s been nice, because Nora’s stroller has a great bin that can hold all my stuff. Last week I put one of those giant water bottles in there and it held! I only had to be careful on the big bumps, because the bin would hit the ground.
Work has been going well for me. I’ve commited myself to Friday night shift every week. I go in at 11pm and get home by 8am. Mike watches Nora in the morning while I sleep. I usually sleep for about 4 or 5 hours. It’s hard getting up on Saturday afternoon, but once I’m up and going, I forget that my sleep was mixed up. I like the work. There’s just enough to keep me busy, but not enough that I feel stressed. I work with 3 other women that are all pretty nice. In addition to the night shift, I’m continuing my weeknight job. That’s 2 nights a week. It’s not a permanent position, but it works for now!
Mike’s been keeping busy with the usual – work and biking. This month he’s also been selling things on ebay. With his new job and my part time work, I’ve turned the screws on the budget. So Mike has been dreaming about a new bike and wondering how he’s going to pay for it. He’s sold all kind of bike parts, computer parts, and old car manuals. He’s been holding onto those Haynes Repair Manuals for things like a 1981 Rabbit because, “you never know when one of our friends will need help with a repair!” And, believe it or not, he’s actually sold those old manuals! Yikes!
I guess I should post a few more pictures.

Next post I’ll put some pics of Mike’s biking. The cyclocross season is starting soon!
