Welcome Home Mommy!
March 11th, 2008 by MikeAlicia just got back from her first trip away, 4 nights in Vegas! She had a great time but unfortunately for us she did not come back a millionaire like we had hoped. Thanks to friends and family, Nora and I made it through the 4 days and nights very smoothly. Our friends Lydia and Karen each watched Nora for half days Wed and Thurs and Gram Rogers had her for the whole day Friday. THANKYOU everyone! Nora was in great spirits the whole time and each night she only woke up once for a changing.
Since Nora slept so well, I was able to spend a few evenings putting together my new mountain bike. I bought a new frame and sold my old one. This allowed me to upgrade to a new style of mountain bike, one with larger 29″ wheels instead of the standard 26″. The jury is still out but 29′ers as they call em are getting more and more popular. Here’s a picture of the “Niner” all built and ready to go.
I’m looking forward to this years mountain bike race season. The first series race is only one month away! I think PA is going easy on us because the two winters we have been here have been quite mild. This morning on the way to work, I heard the birds chirping – I think that’s a sign that winter is over.
Speaking of work, my job is changing a bit. I had been working on a project called Game Now. It was a ton of fun because we were just writing games for use on cable TV. I can’t tell you how many hours I spent ‘testing’ Solitaire, Sudoku, and Video Poker right in my cubical! Well, the games work so well that there’s nothing more to do for now, so I’ve been moved to another group. I’m reporting to a new manager and working on a program that receives requests from the cable set-top box for movies on demand information. This is exciting to me because it’s closer to real embedded programming. My program needs to communicate with the program that is running on the set-top box in millions of homes! So order up the On-Demand content because it’s good for my employer!
Sorry I don’t have more pictures for this post. Alicia took the camera to Vegas so I imagine she’ll post some pics soon.
