Reaching Higher

The changes are amazing. Nora’s not only getting taller, but she’s really putting things together. She’s doing a lot of mimicking and she remembers things for later. She can now reach the second drawer in the kitchen – out with the shears and the zester. Yesterday she took a washcloth out of the dirty laundry basket and put it back into the drawer with the clean washclothes! That might have been the easiest drawer to reach, but it was impressive to me.

She’s really enjoying the back patio. Every morning when we get downstairs, the cats are standing at the back door meowing. Nora goes right up to the door and reaches for the door knob. She stands there waiting because she wants to go out with them. I don’t think they’re very happy about the invasion of space.

Nora wants the whole banana now. Little pieces aren’t good enough anymore.

A few weekends ago we went to my cousin Jimmy’s wedding. He married his high school sweetheart, Kelly. It was a second marriage for both of them, so it was pretty casual. The ceremony was performed at my Aunt Dee’s house in front of the pool in the backyard. I will always remember it, because I was drinking a beer while they were saying their vows. It was great! It got me thinking about Mike’s arguement that it should be ok to bring a cup of coffee into church. It’s not such a bad idea, is it?

A gift from a guest that couldn’t attend – a giant, pink elephant with balloons!

That’s all for now. I hope you enjoy what’s left of the summer. It’s coming to an end! Already?!

Baby Nora is so big! I can’t wait to see her (and you). I will have to think of a more clever nickname than” Baby Nora”
    How about:
    “Normous Nora”
    “Not- an -infant Nora”
    “Nifant Nora”
“Negative Baby Nora” (meaning she’s not a baby anymore)
    “Nora Night Walker”
    “Norbama” (that’s good!)
    Nor-giant”
“Nora Janacola Walk All Over Me”
” Janacola Get Me Nora” (meaning: you can’t get me)
    What do you think?
    Miss you,
    Rainer Rena
