Childless in Seattle

February 23rd, 2009 by Alicia

Mike and I took our first trip together without Nora! What a real treat it was. We flew to Seattle for our friends’ Dave and Sara’s wedding reception. We enjoyed a whole 48 hours in the Emerald City. It was packed full of visiting and eating. We had a wonderful dinner at Chinooks with our friends (and bed & breakfast hosts) John and Chloe. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to eat without worrying whether we’d get to finish our meal before a toddler started getting fussy! We had lunch with Mike’s family at the Spaghetti Factory. A table for 18, please! And we had a nice time at the wedding reception, visiting with friends that also had babies, comparing and commiserating. Our flight home was delayed and we almost missed our connection. We did a quarter mile sprint through the Chicago O’Hare airport. I had flashbacks from my winter track days in high school, when my throat and lungs would just burn after sprinting in those hot, indoor tracks. We got on the plane and it took forever until I could breathe normally again! We came home to news that Nora didn’t miss us at all. She did really well with my parents. But she did pass her cold onto them. It has turned into Bronchitis in my Mom. I hope we didn’t ruin our chances of getting to travel alone again!

We didn’t bring our camera, so here’s a picture of us in our early days. This is the first picture we have of the two of us, taken on a hike up Mt. Washington.

A few days after we got home, our friends Rena and Gary came to visit from Seattle. They stayed with us for 4 days. It was a blast. We did some touring, but mostly just hanging out. We went to the Crayola Factory in Easton, PA. And we visited the Asher’s Chocolates gift shop in Souderton, PA. We went to a few parks and a few restaurants. The visit was over too soon. We were lazy with the camera during this visit too, so there aren’t many pictures. Here’s a picture of Rena and Nora – new BFFs.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted. Here are a couple random pictures from the past month.

One of Nora’s many napping spots. Since her crib rail was taken off, she’s often found on the floor in the hallway, on her chair, nestled between her dresser and her closet, and one time in her laundry basket!

Not much else is new. The pregnancy is going smoothly. My size is starting to bother me, though. Aching back and hips. Four months to go!

Oh, we did get our new car! It looks a lot like the one I posted last month. An ’08 Fusion in navy blue. With a spoiler and heated lather seats! It’s luxurious!
