Amazing!

Last weekend, I went away on a 2-day hike with a friend from church and a handful of other guys. Actually, there’s more to the story. My friend is organizing 6 four day trips to hike all of the PA portion of the Appalachian trail this summer. However, I’m saving my vacation for baby #2 so I just joined the guys for the weekend.

We were going to camp and do day hikes but the campgrounds hadn’t opened for the season yet so we had to ‘rough-it’ in a rental cabin. The rough part was trying to tune the rabbit ears on the TV!

I didn’t bring the camera because I figured enough other guys would have one. Plus, there’s really not much to see on the AT trail in PA. The one ‘lookout’ spot reminded me of looking across the Kent Valley back in South Seattle. Anyway, here is our group.

Overall, it was a really fun time. I did about 22 miles in 2 days, and the rest of the guys did 37 miles over 4 days. Oh yeah, I had left my boots out the week prior because I was wearing them around to condition my feet. Apparently while I was at work Nora was training too!

When I got back, I was amazed with Nora. While changing her diaper she started singing the ABC song! She missed some sections, but it was THE CUTEST ever to hear her straining to slur out, “…now I know my A,B,THETHS, nexth time won sing wif me”. It constantly amazes me how much she’s learning.

Look at how well she holds a crayon. I don’t know where she learned this!

Oh, she also just adores hanging out with the neighbor kids. She’ll go to the door and say ‘fends’ when she hears or sees them outside. Here she is strapped into our new double stroller the neighbors donated to us.
